Plastic and Degradable Plastic

Currently, plastic is the most ubiquitous material in industry and it replaces such materials as wood, metal and stone, But plastic has a very significant drawback – Plastic requires centuries to degrade, if at all degradable.

In recent years, various types of polymers have been developed in an attempt to resolve the degradability issue. They can be divided by their manner of decomposition:

- Degradable Plastic (0X0)

- Biodegradable / Compost Degradable Plastic

Israel recently institutes a standard called “Degradable Plastic and its Products” – IS 6018.
