Due to the distance of the city from its water sources, Hagihon is constructing in Jerusalem a water collection system that prevents shortage of water and suffering during malfunctions in the water transportation system to the city. In addition, the mountainous topography of Jerusalem dictates the need to pump water into the city's high areas and pressure break to low areas. Pump stations and pressure reduction stations are therefore established in the new neighborhoods as required.
Gan Saker reservoir - NIS 22 million
Gan Saker reservoir project was launched during 2019 and is being implemented in two phases. Phase I includes the excavation project to the reservoir, which will be completed during the first quarter of 2020. Phase II includes the completion of detailed planning and preparation of tender documents with the aim of selecting a contractor and completing the reservoir works during the second quarter of 2020. The project is scheduled to be completed in the last quarter of 2022.
The reservoir is planned for 25,000 cubic meters and its role is to meet the growing water needs in the city center, as well as to regulate the water supply to Jerusalem, which is expected to grow significantly in the years to come as a result of the construction of the fifth line in a diameter of 100", which is carried out by Mekorot company.
Pressure reduction facility in the western side at Mevaseret Zion - NIS 0.4
Construction of a pressure reduction facility for Hamagresa neighborhood that will also be used to back up water supplies to the community's located in the middle pressure area. The source of supply to the pressure reduction facility is Mekorot main source line with high pressure. The purpose of the pressure reduction is to supply water at pressures appropriate to the new neighborhood.

Pressure reduction facility instead of Arazim reservoir at Mevaseret Zion – NIS 0.4 million
In 2019, the planning of a new pressure reduction facility was completed to supply water to a low-pressure area in Mevaseret Zion, instead of Arazim reservoir which serves as an outdated and less reliable pressure reduction facility for the neighborhood. Abolishing the reservoir will save the cost of maintenance. Implementation will begin during 2020.
Upgrading the pumping station at Gilo - NIS 0.5 million
During the year 2019, Gilo pumping station design was finished. The work is scheduled for 2020. The pumping station was designed to meet Jerusalem Master Plan 2040. The station will supply the growing water needs in the developing Gilo neighborhood.
